Ramadhan Campaign Against Hunger 1437-2016

NASIMCO's contribution of CAD $20,000.00 towards Ramadhan Campaign Against Hunger (RCAH) results in a successful campaign which took place on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Jaffari Community Centre (JCC), in Toronto.

With the support of over 80 volunteers the team was able to provide over 450 deliveries to families in need around the Greater Toronto Area and as far as Hamilton & the surrounding area. These packages consisted of Ramadhan food items like dates, sugar, oil, etc. and Eid gifts for children of these families.

A huge thank you goes out to the JCC, our community members, the volunteers, the donors for all the support and assistance.

Dental Hygiene Clinic for Syrian Families – Media Release

The North American Shia Ithna Asheri Muslim Community Organization (NASIMCO) and the Jaffari Community Centre (JCC) in Vaughan are two organizations actively helping new government-sponsored Syrian families adjust to the massive change.

DentalScreening1 GalleryIn a third collaborative effort this year to help Syrian refugees, NASIMCO and JCC hosted a free dental screening and informative workshop session for hundreds of Syrian refugees in the York Region and Toronto area August 7, 2016.

“We have over 200 new Syrian-Canadians here today,” said JCC assistant treasure Azim Panju. “We’ve got just under 100 volunteers including 15 dentists, dental hygienists and community members, English-speakers and Arabic translators as well.”

Previous efforts from NASIMCO and JCC included organizing and delivering hygiene kits to families awaiting permanent housing, preparing backpacks for 300 children going to school and delivering donated household items to families upon settlement. Read the full article in Yorkregion.com.

Fort McMurray Disaster Relief 2016

Fort McMurray Disaster Relief 2016 Poster sFort McMurray, a community in northern Alberta, Canada, has been hit by a wildfire which has been fueled by strong winds and swept through the community destroying more than 2,400 homes and buildings forcing the largest wildfire evacuation in the history of Alberta. This natural disaster has lead to more than 100,000 residents of the city and surrounding to leave their homes and their lives after an evacuation order was issued.

NASIMCO has launched an emergency appeal to provide relief to those affected by the raging fire and will be working with Islamic Shia Ithna-Asheri Association of Edmonton who are involved in supporting the Fort McMurray community. You can help by donating today.
