FAQ

Here are some common questions about what we do.

NASIMCO (North American Shia Ithna-Asheri Muslim Communities Organization) was established in 1980 as an umbrella organization dedicated to unifying Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamaats across North America. Our mission is to harness the talents and resources available within our member communities to serve the greater good of global humanity while providing a common structure to meet the religious, cultural, and social needs of Shias in the United States and Canada

Through our Centre of Islamic Learning (CIL), we aim to bridge the gap between secular schools and Madaris by promoting a student-centered approach to religious education. We support Madaris administrators and teachers by offering training in the Tarbiyah Curriculum (developed by the World Federation), conducting Teacher Skills Programs, and coordinating initiatives like the International Qur’an Competition to make Islamic learning relevant and engaging for today’s youth

NASIMCO strives to be a leader in aid and development by operating both locally within North America and globally to alleviate poverty and suffering. Our welfare projects include sponsoring orphans and widows, providing student scholarships, and delivering emergency disaster relief to areas such as Gaza, Syria, and Yemen. We also focus on localized support, such as funding food banks and assisting with resettlement efforts for refugees

We are committed to capacity building through the NASIMCO Youth Network and the Leadership Development Program (LDP), which is grounded in adult learning theory. These initiatives provide platforms for youth to explore their personal leadership styles, engage in career development and mentorship, and participate in retreats designed to foster social consciousness and professional networking across the continent
