THE MONTH OF DHUL HIJJAH 1443 AH

The moonsighting announcement we made last night was done after moonset in Southern California. Around an hour after that, news of moon-sightings by the naked eye in San Diego started to circulate causing many believers to inquire whether the beginning of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah, 1443 A.H. had changed.

Based on guidance we have since received from the resident Alim of Toronto Jamaat, Sayyid Muhammad Rizvi, in conjunction with The Moon-Sighting Committee of The Council of Shia Muslim Scholars of North America, NASIMCO wishes to inform the community that for those who are content with the above-mentioned sightings and are located in the orange curve in the diagram below, from Charlotte (NC), going toward St. Louis (MO), Omaha (NE), to Seattle (WA), Thursday, June 30th, 2022 will be the first day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah, 1443 A.H.

For the rest of North America, Friday, July 1st, will be the first day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah.

You can check your location on the curve map by entering your address on this diagram.
